What is Black Sesame?

Black sesame is a type of sesame seed known for its rich, earthy flavor and distinctive black color, and are cultivated from the sesame plant. Black sesame seeds are commonly used in Asian cuisine and have significant cultural and historical importance in the region.

In Asian culture and history, black sesame has been revered for its nutritional value and health benefits. These tiny seeds are packed with essential nutrients like iron, calcium, magnesium, and fiber. In traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, black sesame is believed to have various medicinal properties, promoting healthy hair, skin, and overall well-being. Its importance in Asian cuisine can be traced back to ancient times when it was incorporated into a wide range of dishes, from savory to sweet.

The cultural significance of black sesame in Asian culture extends beyond its culinary use. Its dark, rich color is often associated with positive energy, vitality, and good fortune. In various Asian traditions, black sesame is considered a symbol of luck and prosperity. During celebrations and festivals like the Lunar New Year and the Moon Festival, black sesame-based desserts, such as black sesame soup or sweet dumplings filled with black sesame paste, are commonly prepared and shared among family and friends to wish for good luck and unity. Overall, black sesame seeds play a multifaceted role in Asian culture, blending nutritional value with deep-rooted symbolism and historical significance.

If you're a fan of candles, you know that they can bring a cozy, warm atmosphere to any room. But in order to get the most out of your candle, it's important to properly care for it. Here are a few tips for keeping your candle burning bright:

-Trim the wick: Before lighting your candle, be sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This will help prevent the flame from becoming too large and will ensure that your candle burns evenly.

-Burn for at least an hour: The first time you light your candle, be sure to burn it for at least an hour. This will allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the jar, which will prevent tunnelling (when the wax only melts down the center of the candle).

-Keep the wax pool clear: As your candle burns, be sure to keep the wax pool clear of any debris, such as wick trimmings or matches. This will help the candle burn smoothly and will prevent the flame from becoming obstructed.

-Don't burn for too long: While it's important to burn your candle for at least an hour at a time, you don't want to burn it for too long. A good rule of thumb is to burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This will help prevent the wax from overheating and will extend the life of your candle.

-Store properly: When you're not using your candle, be sure to store it in a cool, dry place. This will help prevent the wax from melting and will keep your candle in good condition.

By following these tips, you can enjoy your candle for longer and create a warm, inviting atmosphere in your home. Happy candle burning!

Scent is great - never had a black sesame scented candle before! I will say the wick came a bit short which has affected how the candle burns.
